Interstate Cruisers to perform at Pearson Lakes Art Center
A handful of Hall of Fame members are ready to rock the art center.
Interstate Cruisers, 2015 Iowa Rock ‘n’ Roll Music Association Hall of Fame inductee, is set to stage its very first show at the Pearson Lakes Art Center in Okoboji.
The group, consisting of Dave Steuck, Steve Samuelson Sr., Phil Sweeney, Michael Anderson and Jon Johnson, will perform at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 28 at Pomerantz Hall on the lower level of the Art Center.
“Having it downstairs will give people more room to move around. We want everyone to be able to dance! said Rachelle Fratzke, director of performing arts at the art center.
Interstate Cruisers began in the early 1980s under the original Blue Ribbon Express name and toured the tri-state area of Iowa, Minnesota, and South Dakota.
After a few roster and name changes over the years, including the most recent addition of Jon Johnson to the keyboard, the Interstate Cruisers continue to perform in N’West Iowa with a plethora of classic rock tracks from the years. 50, 60 and 70 in their musical repertoire.
“They really hit our musical demographics here with rock ‘n’ roll from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s,” Fratzke said. “We are delighted that they are performing here for the first time and I think they are also very excited about it. “
Fratzke said she always tries to find a few artists with local connections when she puts together the art centre’s music lineup from year to year.
Interstate cruisers certainly do the trick here, too.
“We always like to have people from the area in our programming,” said Fratzke. “And I think that’s important because we have so many of them here and it’s good to give them a little different exposure here at the art center.”
