Townsquare Media revived classic rock WBUF (92.9) as active rock on Friday, positioning it as “Buffalo’s Real Rock.” After 18 months of tackling classic Cumulus Media rocker “97 Rock” WGRF, the station now finds itself sandwiched between 97 Rock and its alternative sister station, “The Edge” WEDG (103.3).

Townsquare’s “Free Beer & Hot Wings”, syndicated by Compass Media, remains on the morning drive with a reshuffling of talent throughout the rest of the day, including the addition of “Loudwire Nights”, syndicated by Townsquare.

WBUF’s “Everything That Rocks” version relied on AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, ZZ Top, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Ozzy Osbourne, Foo Fighters and Metallica as lead artists, all of whom were previously heard in the market. on “97 Rock.” Many of those hallmark acts are still part of the new management, along with currents, recurring ones, and active rock playbook gold.
