FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Downtown Fort Wayne Clean & Green Team, in partnership with the City of Fort Wayne, has installed 18 additional streetscape trash cans in the 99-block downtown neighborhood and its hallways. neighbors.
“Our Clean & Green team is the foundation of everything we do to make Downtown Fort Wayne the vibrant urban core of northeast Indiana,” said Michael Galbraith, president of Downtown Fort Wayne. “As foot traffic and walkability have increased, we are pleased to bring additional bins to downtown and nearby commercial corridors.”
In an ongoing partnership with the City of Fort Wayne, Downtown Fort Wayne expanded its Clean & Green program services to 13 neighboring corridors in 2021. Eight trash cans were added to the downtown district and 10 trash cans were installed in community hallways – six on Hanna Street and four on Fairfield Street.
“I thank Downtown Fort Wayne for taking the initiative and placing these trash cans in various locations,” said Fort Wayne City Councilman Geoff Paddock, 5th District. “Downtown Fort Wayne works hard every day to keep our downtown area clean and tidy. Their efforts have enhanced the attractiveness and growth of our city.
Clean & Green collected 39.7 tons of debris and waste last year between the downtown district and its adjacent commercial corridors.
