FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Another part of Bass Road is set to close for seven months for road reconstruction.

The road will be completely closed between Clifty Parkway and Thomas Road on the southwest side of the city from Monday, February 14 at 7 a.m.

The Allen County Highway Department announced it would be closed until Friday, September 16.

The weather could affect these dates.

The Allen County Board of Commissioners has released the following detailing the work to be done:

The next phase of the Bass Road reconstruction project is about to begin, the Allen County Highways Department announced today.

From February 14, the Bass Road portion of Clifty Parkway to Thomas Road will be closed. The closure is scheduled until September 16. The marked diversion route uses Thomas and Hadley Roads to Illinois Road.

The works involved on the six tenths of a mile stretch of road will include:
• Installation of storm sewer

• curb and gutter construction

• new concrete roadway with a central turning lane

• construction of trails

Primco, Inc. is the prime contractor for this phase of the project after submitting the lowest bid of $4.8 million. The multi-phase Bass Road project will eventually make a variety of improvements to the freeway stretching from Hillegas Road to Scott Road.
