A modern hard rock band and ’80s radio staple have been added to the lineup of acts scheduled for the New York State Fair this summer.
According to a press release, Halestorm, a hard rock quartet, will make their first appearance at the fair as part of the Chevrolet Music Festival. Sister and brother Lzzy and Arejay Hale and their band will perform at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 31 at the Chevy Park stage.
The Grammy-winning group is known for songs such as “Freak Like Me”, “Apocalyptic” and “Amen”.
“We have wanted to bring Halestorm here for a number of years and we are really excited to finally be able to bring them to Chevy Court,” Fair Manager Troy Waffner said in a statement. “This band is very tough and I know that will be one of the highlights of our concert program.”
The fair also announced this week that Starship with Mickey Thomas will bring their ’80s plus hits to the Chevy Park stage on Thursday, September 2.
The band’s hits include “Sara”, “We Built This City” and “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now”, as well as Thomas’ lead vocals on Elvin Bishop’s classic blues-rock hit “Fooled Around and Fell in Love” .
“We haven’t seen this band since 2011, their music is as classic and solid as ever,” said Waffner. “It will be a great rock and roll night by the pond and I hope all fans of the band circle this band. Date on their calendars.”
Halestorm and Starship join a growing list of artists scheduled for the fair, and the shows are free with fair entry.

• REO Speedwagon, Wednesday August 25 at 8 p.m.
• Melissa Etheridge, Friday August 27 at 8 p.m.
• Vixen and Great White, Saturday August 28, time to come.
• Dropkick Murphys, Sunday August 29 at 8 p.m.
• The Oak Ridge Boys, Tuesday, August 31 at 2 p.m.
• Sheena Easton, Wednesday September 1 at 2 p.m.
The fair said that based on current state guidelines, concerts would likely take place on the Chevy Park stage at the grounds of the New York Experience festival. Attendance will be limited. Spectators will need a ticket to enter the concert area in addition to the $ 3 entry ticket to the fair. Tickets for the concert area will be free and available until the attendance limit is reached. Food and drinks will be available inside the concert area.
The buildings of the exhibition center should not be open, with the exception of certain bathrooms. To respect attendance limits, admission tickets at $ 3 will only be sold online and tickets will only be valid for the date of the fair for which they are purchased.
